Points of interest include the Covered Bridges, the Vauban Dam and place Saint-Thomas with its 16th-century church.

Our hotel is located in the heart of this historic and picturesque district of Strasbourg (perhaps one of the most famous in the city). It is included in what is known as “La Grande-île”, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1988.

The half-timbered houses, cobbled streets and the promenade along the banks of the “Ile" are among Strasbourg’s unmissable romantic places. And when the Christmas Market is on, the squares are covered with beautiful wooden chalets offering local produce.

Notre-Dame de Strasbourg Cathedral

The Notre Dame de Strasbourg Cathedral is one of the most beautiful in France. A five-minute walk from the hotel, you can visit and admire in all its glory the cathedral Victor Hugo described as a “prodigy of the gigantic and the delicate".

. With its remarkable large rose window, astronomical clock and 143 metre-high spire, this Gothic masterpiece is the symbol of the city. It forms a beautiful ensemble with the Place du Château, not far from the boarding quay for Strasbourg’s boat tours, which will take you on a journey along the city’s canals.

The different squares:

  • Located a stone’s throw from the Cathedral is place Gutenberg. The inventor of the printing press lived in Strasbourg for 10 years. A statue in his honour has also been built there.
  • Place Kléber is a key meeting place for the residents of Strasbourg. It is also completely pedestrianised and very pleasant with its flower beds and fountains
  • On place Broglie you’ll find the town hall and the opera house.

During the Christmas Market, these different squares are home to the chalets that make the Christkindelsmärik so famous.

The mediaeval churches of Strasbourg and the church of Saint Paul

You can visit the 4 mediaeval churches that are part of the wealth of Strasbourg’s heritage.

  • Eglise Saint-Thomas, whose choir houses a Baroque funerary masterpiece: the tomb of the Maréchal de Saxe.
  • Eglise Saint-Pierre-le-vieux, Strasbourg’s first major Christian building
  • Eglise Saint-Pierre-le-jeune, a must-see for its 14th-century frescoes
  • Eglise Saint-Etienne, a listed historic monument

Don’t miss Strasbourg’s Saint-Paul church, with its 2 twin 70-metre-high spires and elegant rose window. The interior is also worth a visit for its original stained-glass windows.

The Strasbourg Christmas Market or Christkindelsmärik

Not to be missed on any visit during the festive period.
With over 300 chalets scattered over a dozen sites, including the Place de la Cathédrale and along the Broglie promenade, Strasbourg’s Christmas Market is the oldest and most famous one in France.

Expect Christmas decorations, crafts from near and far, local and regional food products.

The entire city is filled with the magic of Christmas, as the windows on the shopping streets come alive with stunning illuminations, as do the façades of the houses and their balconies.

Parc de l’Orangerie

There is also a large lake with boat hire, for a delightful experience in this idyllic setting.

Finally, the park is the perfect place to observe Alsace’s iconic animal: the stork. Many trees are home to their nests all year round.

Ever since the 18th century, the Parc de l’Orangerie has remained the favourite place for Strasbourg’s residents to stroll as they admire its picturesque English-style gardens, complete with a very popular zoo and bowling area.

Spanning over 26 hectares, it offers places to stroll, several playgrounds and a mini zoo that is free of charge.
